Since 2006
I've been in this hobby for 20 years. It was in July that I first saw a BJD. It was a Luts Delf Shiwoo wearing some emo-style CP / Delf clothing. I can remember it clear as day, seeing him and beelining to the girl holding him and asking her a million questions. She let me hold him and I was doomed.
Over the rest of the month I spent a lot of time going over dolls. I'd never purchased anything in my life so expensive, and so I was very careful. Originally, I'd chosen a Dream of Doll Elf Ducan fullset. I started saving up my money (I didn't have a CC back then). Then the day before I had the last of the money I needed for him, he sold out. At the time, of course, I was a bit upset. So I started looking again. Chose the CP/Delf Woosoo, which had already sold out a year before I knew about BJDs. So, back to the drawing board, I, in the end, purchased a CP Delf EL.
I don't regret Uriel being my first doll. I was very nervous opening his box, and my lil spaceman emerged.
The girl who showed me her Shiwoo asked me... "Well who is he?"
I was thinking, "I have to give him a background?"
Until that moment, all my creativity had been spent on cosplay, making costumes of things that already existed. I never thought to start something with my own imagination and so I thought about it. Who was he?
Thus, the Black Dragon Lord of Shadowhold was born.
Since he's come into my life, obviously, I've gotten many more dolls, but they all live in a story that surrounds who he is and who he is slowly becoming. I will always be thankful for the path I'm on because of Uriel. And I will always be thankful, good or bad, where I ended up because of this hobby and the people in it.
