Dollvale was built on the belief that a shared love of dolls should bring people together, not divide them.

Our community welcomes collectors of every race, ethnicity, culture, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age (where permitted), disability, neurotype, and life experience. Whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent, a lifelong collector or just beginning your first collection, you deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Just as importantly, these are not values we adopted because they sound good on a website.

They are the principles by which our administrators, moderators, artists, and community members have chosen to build this community. Dollvale is our hobby home too, and we want it to be a place where people can participate without fear of being mocked, excluded, or judged for who they are.

We recognize that collectors come from many different backgrounds and hold many different personal, religious, philosophical, and political beliefs. Dollvale does not expect everyone to think alike, vote alike, worship alike, or live alike.

What we do expect is that every member treats others with basic human dignity.

Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, hate speech, or attempts to demean someone because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, neurodivergence, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other personal characteristics have no place in this community.

Likewise, we cannot support ideologies or behaviors that advocate for the oppression, exclusion, or suffering of others, or that seek to elevate one group of people by diminishing another.

We believe kindness is stronger than cruelty.

Curiosity is stronger than judgment.

Community is stronger than division.

At the end of the day, we're here because we share a remarkable hobby. We'd rather spend our time celebrating beautiful dolls, supporting artists, helping new collectors, and building friendships than arguing over the things that separate us. But, that does not mean we are willing to overlook any form of discrimination.

Dollvale isn't inclusive because it's fashionable. It's inclusive because that's the kind of community we want to belong to ourselves.

Yes, but probably not in the way you might expect.

Modern software development has changed dramatically over the past few years. Today, AI-assisted coding tools are integrated into many professional development environments used throughout the technology industry. These tools can answer programming questions, explain documentation, identify errors, and suggest implementation strategies.

Our site owner works professionally as a software developer in the gaming industry, where these tools have become a normal part of everyday development.

That said, Dollvale was not built by asking an AI to generate a website.

The site's structure, systems, policies, design decisions, and functionality were designed and implemented by a human developer. AI tools were used as technical assistants to answer questions about programming concepts, troubleshoot problems, and help implement features more efficiently, much like consulting technical documentation or another developer.

As technology continues to evolve, we believe transparency is more valuable than pretending these tools do not exist.

The artwork, branding, appearance, and long-term visual identity of Dollvale are intentionally human-created.

Our logo was created using Adobe Illustrator and was not generated by AI.

The graphics, branding, layout decisions, and overall aesthetic of Dollvale are the result of work completed by our team and contributing artists.

If members ever have questions regarding the authenticity or origin of artwork displayed on the site, our administrators are happy to answer those questions and, when appropriate, provide documentation regarding the creation of official site assets.

Supporting artists is one of Dollvale's core values, and we believe our own visual identity should reflect that commitment.

That's a fair question.

Early during development, we tested what was advertised as an automated image-stitching feature that claimed it would combine several existing images into a seamless website banner.

We supplied photographs of dolls belonging to our administrators with the expectation that the software would simply arrange those images together.

Instead, the software generated an entirely new image, including a fabricated background and altered versions of several dolls that no longer accurately represented the originals.

The result was not what we expected, nor was it consistent with the standards we wanted for Dollvale.

As soon as we realized what had happened, the banner was removed and replaced with a handcrafted version created by one of our administrators.

Unfortunately, the internet has an excellent memory, and screenshots of that early version still exist.

Rather than pretend it never happened, we'd rather simply acknowledge it.

It was an honest mistake made while evaluating a tool that did not behave the way it was advertised.

We learned from it, corrected it immediately, and moved forward with artwork created by human hands.

The Dollvale Marketplace is restricted to adults for several important reasons.

First, many dolls, particularly within the resin ball-jointed doll hobby, feature realistic anatomy or artistic themes intended for mature collectors. While many collectors view these dolls simply as works of art, we recognize that parents and guardians should be able to make those decisions for their own families. Rather than deciding that question on someone else's behalf, we choose to limit Marketplace participation to adults.

Second, buying and selling collectible dolls often involves significant financial transactions. Dolls may be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars, and transactions require legally binding agreements between buyers and sellers. Knowing that both parties are verified adults helps foster confidence and accountability within the Marketplace.

Finally, age verification helps protect everyone involved should a transaction go wrong. Whether a shipment is lost, payment is disputed, or legal remedies become necessary, resolving those situations is considerably more straightforward when both participants are legally recognized adults.

Age verification is not about excluding younger collectors.

It is about protecting our members, reducing unnecessary legal complications, and creating a safer Marketplace for everyone who participates.
